Description

It’s a well known fact that a new-born princess will often be subject to a curse—especially if her royal parents neglect to invite an important magical relative to the christening. But never has there been a curse as charming (and hilarious) as that which befalls the Light Princess. Deprived of gravity, she can’t take anything—or anyone—seriously. Even worse, she’s apt to blow away on the first stiff breeze!

Can even a handsome prince bring her down to Earth?

One of the most acclaimed literary fairy tales of all time, George MacDonald’s profound and witty story floats into bubbling new life in this lovingly crafted full cast reading.

Reviews

AudioFile Magazine...
Imagine a princess lighter than air--physically and emotionally--who continually needs help to stay earthbound. This version of MacDonald's witty classic is, unfortunately, unabridged: "not one single sentence has been omitted." This means that all the unnecessary and boring parts of MacDonald's story are there. It becomes a long, drawn-out story, in which everything ends up feeling extreme--too many words, too long pauses, too much inflection--making the characters seem one-dimensional and unsympathetic. The full cast helps differentiate the characters, but it's hard to work up much compassion for any of them. This production may be good for an adult theology lesson, but not for children's entertainment. W.L.S. (c) AudioFile 2006, Portland, Maine
